Most Embarassing Moment

So, Sass had to dig deep to figure out her most embarassing moment. I decided to dig deep to find mine. Like Sass, I don't embarass easily. I laugh too much. If I do or say something stupid, I laugh at myself.

But there was a time...

(cue the swirly lines that indicate a daydream)

I was out chillin' with some friends. Had to be about 16 because I was dating Blackness, the ugliest boy in the school. We had our teenage selves out hanging out at a playground. I was swinging and talking and laughing with the other juvenile delinquents I frequently hung with (when I wasn't on punishment). And then I got this bright idea to swing as HIGH as I could and.......... JUMP!

While in my mind I was flying through the air with a perfect land, looking super cool in from of my boyfriend and friends, reality jerked me back. Well, my jacket jerked me back as it got caught on the chains of the swing and instead of gracefully landing in the sand, as my body left the swing, I was immediately jerked back and landed flat on my back under the swing.

Laughter roared from all who were there too see and Blackness came over to help me up and asked me what the hell I was doing. I wanted to cry, because my hip hurt like crazy and my jacket was ripped and people were still laughing, but I started laughing to play off my embarassment.

It was certainly time to go. The street lights were coming on anyway...

So, who's the geek?

At the end of a email forward today, I put my blog address and sent it out. An hour later I get a text from my best friend. Apparently, she's finally read my blog. Yeah, she's my best friend, but I don't think the whole blog thing interests her because she's ONE OF THOSE working moms who thinks that NON-WORKING moms are a waste of space.

Okay, she didn't actually say that, but I could tell she was thinking it.

Anywho, the text goes something like this (paraphrasing because I deleted it):

Read your funky blog. So you get tired of your FRIENDS checking on you?

I responded with TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT!

Okay, so yeah I did say something along the lines of not liking people to be all pitiful with me about Chris being gone. I'm pitiful enough on my own!

She says: I'm not gonna call you no more! She called me a computer geek and told me to talk to my computer geek friends!

WAY HARSH, I know! LOL!

That's my girl, though! So, because I know that she will surely be back to read again, I HAVE to leave something especially for her!

Me and my Best Friend!

~NERD DAY 1992~

Yeah I went there.... and it's going on FACEBOOK too!

LOVE YOU!

Writer's Workshop: Back at the Playground

Mama Kat has given another assignment and it is time for me to get to work.

Get over there and see the prompts and I bet you'll want to join in. Come on! You know you wanna!

This is the promt that I chose:

5.) Tell us about that time at the playground when that thing happened.

Okay, as soon as I read this, my mind immediately went back to I was just a little tot.

(cue the wavy lines of the screen of my thoughts)

I was in my first grade class, maybe. I really think that it was before that, like back when I was in pre-school.

I was was on the see-saw with another kid and I thought that it would be funny to jump off and watch him plummet to the ground and fall off. Seemed pretty innocent to me at the time. And quite funny.

So I waited until the perfect time when I didn't think he was paying a lot of attention, you know, right at the point when he was as high as he could be, and I jumped off!

Only it wasn't funny at all as he fell and the the handles of the tetter-totter smacked him right in his chin.

Yeah, he was bleeding and I'm pretty sure that he had to get stitches.

Of course my mom was called and this was just one of those things that I can't forget because she talked it about it for the years to come.

Needless to say, that was one stunt I never pulled again.

My Favorite Toy

Okay, this wasn't necessarily my favorite toy, but it was certainly one that I had to write about after reading about Mama Kat's Cabbage Patch Kid on Writer's Workshop Wednesday.

So I simply couldn't resist telling all about Henrietta. We, I had to be in about the 1st grade when Henrietta came to live with us. I remember wanting a Cabbage Patch because they were all over the TV and every little girl had one. I think I must have gotten her for Christmas because, like Kat, I didn't toys outside of special occasions either. When I got her, I remember thinking that she really wasn't the one that I wanted. She really didn't look anything like me, i.e red hair and freckles. EVERYONE had to know she was adopted, but hey, she grew on me. I wanted a little more like me with dark hair, but more than anything, I wanted a Corn-silk Head Cabbage. You know you MEMBER! The ones with the soft hair you could brush? I remember Trying to brush the yarn on Henrietta's head. Nah Uhh. Not the same.

Soon, maybe next Christmas, she was joined my the twins, Lisa and Jimmy. or maybe it was Michael, don't remember. They looked just like the picture. Yellow velvet outfits and all.

Henrietta was still the fave. She was the oldest. I don't really remember what happened to the twins, but Henrietta was ripped to shreds by Cocoa, my first dog, many years later. RIP Henrietta! No Pun intended there.
