Yesterday was my little princess's 4th birthday! She was so excited the entire day and made sure that absolutely everyone that would listen in every store that we went to knew that it was HER DAY!
Honestly, I don't know who was more excited, me or her because I got to do the shopping for all of her presents from my mom and dad. They usually just put money in our bank account and tell me to get whatever the kids want. They both live far away and aren't able to make it to the kids' birthdays. I think this gives the kids a HUGE advantage because they are then spoiled rotten on birthdays and Christmas to make up for the time missed.
So, we went from store to store looking for just that perfect present that she had asked her grandparents for, had lunch at McDonald's (because every kids loves McDonald's), and then later spent over an hour in Toys r Us allowing the boys to look for a present for her.
Hubs had duty (a 24 hour overnight duty that SUCKS to all be darn, if you ask me, but that's the way they roll in the Army), so I made spaghetti, one of her favorite meals, (next to McDonald's of course) and we waited for him to get a break to come home and open presents and have cake with us.
While we waited, we turned on some kiddie music and it was a BIG party from there. We danced in the kitchen and had a Conga line, did the Hokey Pokey and the Twist, played Wii and Legos and she was more excited and happy than if we'd spent the day at Monkey Joes.
"THIS IS THE BEST PARTY EVER!" she yelled out on several occasions as we danced around the house.
It wasn't even a planned the event. Her actual birthday party was supposed to be Saturday, but almost none of her guest are going to be able to make the tea party and she was dead set against having girls come because "Boys don't like tea parties!", so I looks like we'll be postponing until the next weekend. I was really disappointed for her because she has really been looking forward to having a tea party, but after our little "party" last night, I think it made everything okay.
When Hubs got a break, she got to open her presents.
She got clothes from Auntie.
A Little Mommy doll that comes with a potty and sink, pees and poops and brushes her teeth from Grandma.
A V-Smile Cyber Pocket from Grandpa.
And a Sweet Secret's Mall with little tiny dolls and pieces from the boys.
All in all, I think she had a great time, even with the knowlege of knowing her party isn't going to happen on Saturday.

Wow...what a great time...it's always the impromptu times that make the best memories! Happy Birthday to little Princess
Happy Birthday to her.... You know those spontaneous parties are more fun than the planned ones...Sorry your hubby couldn't be there all day, but glad you ended up having a great day/night!!!
She is soooo cute! What a fun time! Happy birthday!
What a gorgeous girl! Happy Birthday!!!!
WORK IT GURL!!!
Happy Birthday!!
Sorry to hear about the scheduled party, sometimes it happens like that. I remember planning a pool party for my daughter's 4th bday, but it was all cold and windy, so we all just played in the park (some of us half naked because we were expecting to be splish splashing instead of slip sliding.
Thought: since she had so much fun yesterday with just the family, maybe you can sit down with her tomorrow for mother/daughter tea.
Happy Birthday!
I wanted to let you know that I'm taggin you!
